Privacy Policy

The short version: SummarizAI reads a page only when you ask, sends that text to an AI model once to generate your brief, stores nothing on any server, and keeps your history and settings on your own device. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no selling of data. Ever.

What SummarizAI accesses

Page content — the visible text of the tab you're summarizing (article text, video captions, email thread text, reviews, your selected text, or PDF text). This is accessed only at the moment you request a brief — never in the background, never on pages you don't summarize.
Page title and URL — used to label your brief and your on-device history.

Where content goes

To generate your brief, the extracted text travels one hop to the AI model provider's API over HTTPS, and the brief streams back. That is the only network destination for page content.
SummarizAI operates no servers of its own and stores no page content, briefs, or personal data anywhere outside your device.
PDF files are parsed locally in your browser with a bundled copy of Mozilla PDF.js; only the extracted text needed for your brief is sent to the model — same as any web page.
The model provider processes text solely to return your brief, subject to its own privacy terms. SummarizAI sends no identifiers about you along with the text.

What stays on your device

Your brief history, usage stats (counts and time saved), a short-lived page cache for instant re-opening, and your settings — all stored in chrome.storage.local inside your browser profile.
You can erase any or all of this at any time in Settings → Reset.

What SummarizAI does NOT do

No analytics, telemetry, or tracking pixels of any kind.
No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection.
No ads, no data sale or sharing with third parties.
No background reading of your browsing.

Permissions, explained

activeTab + scripting — read the current tab's text at the moment you ask for a brief.
storage — keep history, stats and settings on your device.
sidePanel, contextMenus, tabs — power the panel UI, the right-click menu, and figuring out which tab to summarize.
Host access — required to call the AI API and to download PDFs you ask to summarize.
